Choosing that healthy lifestyle

From my last food post I feel like I have already made a lot of progress and have learnt a great deal of things. As my last post was the time I decided to change my lifestyle to eat healthier I have been doing a lot of research and finding out better things to do. Looking back on that post now, I can't believe how much my diet has even changed since then. I guess it's good to see my progress from a beginner in any of this learning it, as if you choose to do that same you can follow along and not feel intimidated. I find so many websites with all these complicated healthy recipes and as I'm as student not only am I just starting to eat healthy but I am on a budget and just learning how to cook (you know after all those years of your parents cooking for you ;) or in my case my step dad!). I know I was lucky for that, but I actually do love to cook and find out new ideas especially if I make something nice and healthy I feel like I have achieved something and I feel a lot lighter, happier and less stressed.

I don't really know where this post is going but I just want to share some of my experiences. So from my research I came across an article written on Kayture's blog about her changing her lifestyle as well, and it was so inspirational and I agreed with pretty much everything she said. I also saw Niomi Smart's video giving three different healthy breakfasts. I bought some Chia seeds to try but haven't had to chance to try some other the other healthy things that are on my list such as Cacao Nibs, Flaxseed, Rye Bread and Almond Butter/Milk. I am also trying to cut the carbs out of my main meal of the day replacing them with a lot more veg or a mixture of beans. This still fills me up so I think it's a good thing.

I'm serious in that if I had money I would be able to experiment more, I still have so much more to learn but I am so excited to do that. For breakfast now I have started having Porridge with Chia Seeds mixed in, a drizzle of honey and berries on top. Luckily for me at the bottom of my road there is a veg and fruit man with very good deals, I got two large boxes of raspberries for £2.

As for exercise I have been going to the gym 5-6 times a week. When I am there I roughly do 50 mins of cardio, some of the weight machines and then some core work on the mats. I would say I stay for about an hour and 20 mins normally. I use a variety of the cardio machines including cross trainer, treadmill, rowing machine and bike. I prefer to use the cross trainer and the treadmill for longer as I feel like I am doing more and they always build up a sweat. Then the weights I use the lat pull, chest press, shoulder press, leg press, and the leg extenstions and sometimes the ab one. The core work is mostly a circuit of different things that I change up a lot. Then also some handweights and some squats with weights as well. After all that I feel happy with myself. Exercising really makes you feel so much better, afterwards I feel refreshed and great! I recomend that everyone gives some exercise a little go. Of course I don't expect people to go 6 times a week and do over an hour each time.

There is still a long way for me to go and a lot of things for me to learn, but I will keep you up to date and thank you all for reading. I hope you are liking this health type series. Sarah, x
